We want all sections of Devon’s community to have their voice heard at the Weathering The Storm conference, and this is why we would like to hear your comments and questions for the panel.

Time factors mean that we can’t guarantee that all submitted questions will be put to the panel. However, we will try to select a range that broadly covers all views and represent all interests. The chosen questions will also be included in the follow-up report, which will be posted on the Weathering The Storm website after the event.

This is a great opportunity for you to get yourself heard, and we really are keen for everyone to contribute! You can either email your questions or comments to us at environment@devon.gov.uk, or submit them using the comments section below – in fact, to make it nice and easy for you (!)… just click here!

The UK economy is in the grip of a severe ‘credit crunch’ and Devon is already feeling the effects.

As a major player in the lives of Devonians (and the County’s biggest employer too), the County Council have organised a timely and important conference to discuss how we can bring all Devon’s communities through this recession as safely and securely as possible – to weather the storm.

Speakers at this half-day conference already confirmed include:

  • Kevin Butler – South West Regional Director (Bank of England)
  • Juliet Williams – Chair of the South West Regional Devleopment Agency
  • Professor Steve Smith – Vice Chancellor (Exeter University)
  • Colin Molton – SW Regional Director (Homes and Communities Agency)

The morning will include a panel drawn from all sectors of Devon life. They will be commenting on contributions from anyone who has an interest in sustaining communities in Devon through the recession, and will help develop a recovery plan for the whole of the county.

In fact, although this event is invitation-only, plenty of time has been assigned to capture the views of all members of the community, and that includes you!

How to put YOUR question to the panel
If you have an appropriate question or comment regarding Devon’s response to the economic situation, now is the opportunity to get yourself heard – use the comments section at the bottom of this blog  or simply click here and leave your name, contact details and question/comment. Alternatively, please email environment@devon.gov.uk with “Weathering the Storm” as your subject.

Please note that it may not be possible for all submitted questions to be put to the panel on the day. In this instance, we will look to select a range of questions that broadly cover all views and represent all interests. Furthermore, these will be included in the follow-up report, which will be posted on the Weathering The Storm website after the event.
