Catching the Tide

–   A lunch of Devon produce will be provided following the event   –

Following advance publicity I am pleased to invite you to this half-day conference to discuss the future opportunities and challenges for Devon. We have an exciting and wide-ranging panel of speakers who will be able to provide an authoritative overview of their area of expertise. There will plenty of opportunity for discussion too. As the programme is finalised we will publish details online at:www.devon.gov.uk/catchingthetide.

If you haven’t already registered your interest than perhaps we can encourage you to do so now.  Spaces are filling fast.

Catching the Tide
Working to make a stronger Devon

As the UK prepares to emerge from recession, John Hart, Leader of Devon County Council, would like to invite you to an important conference to take a critical look at Devon as it plans for a post-recession future. Catching the Tide is an opportunity to find out and share information with knowledgeable experts on the opportunities and challenges facing Devon.

Devon County Council has called this conference as part of its commitment to working with partners, giving you the chance to input your views,
and to ensure we are ready to capitalise on the upturn whenever it happens – Catching the Tide.

The conference will focus on:

·    Highlighting the opportunities and threats to the future prosperity of Devon
·    Introducing the new Devon County Council strategic priorities
·    Offering an opportunity for you to share, comment and inform the Local Economic Assessment*
·    How can we ensure Devon’s communities Catch the Tide?

Catching the Tide will be taking place on Wednesday 9th December 2009 at Sandy Park Conference Centre, Exeter.

A formal invitation will be sent out at a later date, the purpose of this email is to make you aware of the event, but please feel free to respond to this email if you would like to attend.

*From April 2010 Devon County Council will have a statutory requirement to assess the county’s economy.
